Development of an Engine Control Unit (ECU) for Jet Engines in the Thrust Category of 200 to 450 N

DevCom, spol. s r. o. is participating in the project titled “Development of an Engine Control Unit (ECU) for Jet Engines in the Thrust Category of 200 to 450 N.”

Project Brief

The project focuses on the research and development of an innovative engine control unit (ECU) for jet engines, specifically the TJ20 and TJ40 series, with thrust ranging from approximately 200 to 450 N, designed for use in unmanned aerial vehicles, target drones, and small aircraft. The development will leverage cutting-edge technologies from the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and IT, supported by expertise from Brno University of Technology (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies) and DevCom, Ltd. – additional project participants. The main beneficiary of the project is První brněnská strojírna Velká Bíteš, a.s. The project is scheduled for a 24-month duration (01/2024 – 12/2025).

Project Goals

The primary goal of the project is to develop, manufacture, and test a prototype of an innovative ECU designed to control the operation of a jet engine (thrust category approximately 200-450 N).

Project Outcomes

The project will result in an innovative ECU for jet engines. Compared to existing solutions, the ECU prototype will focus on increasing reliability, shelf life, and energy efficiency of the converter, among other improvements.

This project “Development of an Engine Control Unit (ECU) for Jet Engines in the Thrust Category of 200 to 450 N” is funded with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic under the TREND Program. This project has been funded under the National Recovery Plan from the European Recovery and Resilience Facility.
